Lake Worth

Lake Worth Beach is a city on the Lake Worth Lagoon in Palm Beach County. It started in 1912 as the Townsite of Lucerne. Because another post office already used the name Lucerne, the town became Lake Worth, named for Colonel William Jenkins Worth. In March 2019, residents voted to rename the city Lake Worth Beach.

The city has six historic districts, including College Park, Old Lucerne and South Palm Park. On the ocean, the city's Casino and Beach Complex includes a 1920s-style Casino Building, the William O. Lockhart Pier, a lifeguarded beach, shops and dining. Each February, the Street Painting Festival brings more than 800 artists to the streets downtown.

West of the city, many homes have a Lake Worth mailing address but sit in unincorporated Palm Beach County. Planned communities such as Lake Charleston are in this area.
